If you have been a patient here for any length of time, you may have noticed something different lately: a new name on the door. Bartoszewicz Family Dental is now officially Eastgate Family Dental, and we want to take a moment to tell you exactly what changed, and more importantly, what didn’t.
The short version: the name is new. Everything else is the same.
Why the Name “Eastgate”
This practice has always been a neighborhood dental office, locally owned by the dentist who treats you, rooted in one community, and committed to the people who walk through its doors.
The Eastgate neighborhood of Grand Rapids is that community. This stretch of Burton Street SE, between East Hills and the Plaster Creek corridor, has been home to this practice for over 60 years. Our patients come from Eastgate, East Grand Rapids, Forest Hills, Wyoming, Kentwood, and the surrounding area. In many cases, multiple generations of the same family have sat in the same chair.
Eastgate Family Dental is a name that honors where we are and who we serve. It roots us in the neighborhood that has supported this practice for generations, and it reflects what we have always been: a locally owned, dentist-run family practice genuinely connected to the people of Grand Rapids.
A Legacy of Care
None of this exists without Dr. Bartoszewicz. He built this practice over decades of patient, relationship-centered dentistry. By the time he retired at the end of 2025, he had created something rare: a practice where patients trusted not just the dentist, but the whole experience. We are deeply grateful for the standard he set. It is the foundation everything here stands on.
That foundation is in good hands. Dr. Brandon Jankowski, DDS has been practicing at this office for nearly a decade and has been the owner for the past five years. For most of our longtime patients, he is not a new face. He is the person who has been seeing them through checkups, restorations, and the occasional emergency, year after year. The transition was seamless because, in many ways, it already happened.
Introducing Dr. Jonathan Kahn
At the start of 2026, we welcomed Dr. Jonathan Kahn, DMD to the team. Dr. Kahn brings over 11 years of clinical experience, having practiced in Southern California before choosing to relocate to Grand Rapids with his family. He holds a DMD from Western University of Health Sciences and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, additional post-doctoral training focused on complex restorative care.
Dr. Kahn is known for his gentle approach and his ability to put anxious patients at ease. He takes the time to explain treatment in clear, straightforward terms. If you haven’t had a chance to meet him yet, we think you’ll appreciate his style right away.
What Has Not Changed
We know trust in a dental office is built visit by visit. Here is what remains exactly the same:
Same ownership. Dr. Jankowski has been running this practice for years and will continue to do so.
Same team. The familiar faces who greet you by name, remember your preferences, and make a dental visit feel less like a chore. They are not going anywhere.
